Strange Conversations: Part One Hundred and Sixty

Posted 29 June 2009 in by Catriona

Yet another Gmail chat conversation:

ME: Okay. Cool.
NICK: Awesome roarsome.
ME: No.
NICK: No?
ME: No.
NICK: Not a good catchphrase?
ME: No.
NICK: Okay then.

And with that, I have to announce a blogging hiatus. I’m flying interstate tomorrow for a job interview, and then spending a couple of days with my parents. In time-honoured fashion, I have, of course, caught a revolting cold two days out from the interview, so my plan of blogging in advance has been cancelled.

I will be back in time to live-blog this week’s Torchwood episode, but unless something outstandingly unprecedented occurs between now and then, I won’t be blogging in the interim.

Au revoir!

GOOD LUCK WITH THE JOB INTERVIEW! (that’s me shouting down the bruce highway so you can hear me)

Interstate?

Thanks!

Yes, the job’s in Sydney. But I don’t like to give details because I’m insanely superstitious (Nick says I’m the most superstitious atheist he’s ever met) and I worry that talking about it will jinx it.

Not that that makes any sense, but, you know, I’m heading into a job interview while a head cold and I’ve managed to get my hands on some symptom suppressants with good old-fashioned pseudo-ephedrine in them, so nothing I’m saying right now makes any sense.

no that makes absolutely sense and I would be exactly the same.

I might add though that I think “awesome roarsome” could have some catchphrase potential. I’m going to test it out.

Well, I’ll give you my permission (for what that’s worth) to claim you came up with it on your own. I don’t want to encourage him!

Hey rock-out Catriona (or whatever you like to do in job interviews). Hope you do awesomely roarsomely.

See it’s already tested now and doing very well. (i laughed out loud a lot.)

I think Nick can revel in the catchphrase glory…i wouldn’t want to take credit for someone else’s big salad (see Seinfeld is useful in any situation!)

Best of luck, or should that be break a leg? for the job interview.

Also, good luck! :)

Hope the interview and the pseudo-ephedrine are a good catchphrase success.

Best of luck with the interview.

And I intend testing out ‘awesome roarsome’ on my students next semester. I think it could work as part of a revised assignment marking guide, ie ‘poor’, ‘adequate’, ‘good’, ‘excellent’, ‘awesome roarsome’.
