Love Aunty Ei and Uncle Derick
Quintus Sertorius, we did evacuate in the end: just overnight, since the flood was due to peak at 4 am and we couldn’t stand watching the waters rise for another ten hours. But we were incredibly lucky: when the waters peaked a metre lower than expected, they stopped on our boundary line, since we’re on the side of a tiny hill. Saved by a fluke of geography.
Aunty Ei, I’m glad you and Uncle Derick knew we were okay. It was terrifying and this suburb (and our street) took a terrible beating (I’ll post some more pictures of the area), but we were lucky enough to stay safe.
