Dust Storm at Home
Posted 23 September 2009 in Random Photographs by Catriona
And another set of photographs, just because I don’t see why Sydney’s dust storm should get all the attention, even if their skies were much brighter.
(And, yes: if the dust storm leads to spectacular effects come sunset, there’ll be yet another set of photographs on the blog.)

We got some spectacular orange shots out our way. My photos aren’t nearly as good looking or arty as yours, but they have the dull orange haze nicely.

I saw yours, Sam! They were great.
They’re much, much more orange than mine. I was at work for the orangest portion of the storm (if I can coin that word), hence the dodgy iPhone photos, but I don’t think it was as orange here as it seemed to be elsewhere. Maybe it was diluted by the smog from the city?

I believe the colour had more to do with the time of day.

That wouldn’t surprise me. And I took these photographs at the beginning of the storm, because I was desperate to get into campus. (I had to invigilate an exam.) The dust is dense here, but it was much denser about half an hour later.
