Two Strange Conversations For The Price Of One

Posted 13 April 2009 in by Catriona

ME: Honey, is there any coffee made up? I could really do with a cup of coffee.
NICK: I’ll make coffee, and then maybe we could try the Easter eggs Mum gave us?
ME: But what are you eating right now?
NICK: Other Easter eggs.

NICK: Do you want to put some music on?
ME: Sure. What do you fancy?
NICK: I don’t know. I’m easy, baby. Easy like Sunday morning.
ME: No, you’re not. You’re incredibly difficult, like . . . Friday afternoon.

Has anyone written that Friday song? If not they need to…I hear a hit…

The phrasing might need some work. I’m not enamoured of the rhythm of “I’m incredibly difficult . . . incredibly difficult, like Friday afternoon.”

Just imagine the Smiths are singing it.

Ah, but then I’m imagining that it’s a B-side to “Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me.” And then I’m imagining that I’ve listened to that single over and over for an entire weekend. And now I’m imagining I’ve locked myself in my room with a packet of cereal and am curled up in the foetal position . . . .

And that’s when the Daleks arrive.

Yes, but in that state I welcome them . . .

Cue Simon and Garfunkel.

I sort of thought that the song might work best as a death metal track. Then you don’t have to worry about whether any of the lines scan.
