Strange Conversations: Part Three Hundred and Thirty-Nine

Posted 24 January 2011 in by Catriona

The futility of trying to convince Nick to let me buy another TV lamp, this one shaped like a chess piece:

NICK: Shipping antiques from overseas stresses me out too much
ME: But I might love it more than I love you!
NICK: OMG!
ME: I said “might.”
NICK: But I am alive and squishy!
ME: Okay, ew.

I think you need to link it, shaped like a chess piece sounds cool.

I don’t know how active the link will remain, but it’s this TV lamp, but in black, rather than red.

Isn’t it a beauty?

In the back: TV lamps throw the light backwards (and in some cases, like this one, through the object’s eyes—so cool) because they were designed to stand on top of old-school televisions: they weren’t supposed to cast light down onto the television screen.

I adore TV lamps, but Nick severely restricts my lamp-buying tendencies (and he’s probably right to do so). I haven’t quite given up the fight on this one, though.
