World's Smallest Water Dragon

Posted 7 February 2010 in by Catriona

Well, perhaps not. But he’s certainly the smallest of the ones we have running around.

Look at his enormous head! It’s really not fair that baby things should be so dang cute.

I don’t know how you get so many good photos of water dragons, they always run away from me, especially these little ones. Maybe when I get the 300mm lens…

The smaller ones usually do run away from me, and this was the closest I got to this one—I managed to take this on full zoom from inside the back door, so he wasn’t startled. When I stepped closer, he legged it.

But the big one, the one I used to take most of my photos of, wasn’t too fussed: if I went out in the morning, when he was warming up on the BBQ, he was normally quite happy for me to get within a metre or so.

That said, all my dragon pictures are taken on full zoom.
