Strange Conversations: Part Two Hundred and Twenty-Six

Posted 12 November 2009 in by Catriona

This is perhaps the strangest conversation I’ve ever had.

WII FIT BALANCE BOARD: Good morning! Did you sleep well?
ME: No.
WII FIT BALANCE BOARD: It’s Friday! Have you made any plans for the weekend?
ME: (preserves a dignified silence)
WII FIT BALANCE BOARD: By the way, what do you think of Nick’s posture?
ME: The hell? (Picks “Is improving” from the limited selection)
WII FIT BALANCE BOARD: Oh. Well, in a certain sense, you might be right!

Imagine if your exercise equipment could dob you in to your partner! Well, that’s only one of the special advantages of Wii Fit.

I have to say as much as I covet your Wii Fit I also feel that there are times when i would want to slap it!!

Yes, I can sympathise with that. I tend to want to slap it myself, every time it says “Oh!” when I step on it.

Bastard.

And we’re not too keen on the way it dobs us in to each other. It’s just not cricket.

I miss talking or should I say swearing at my wii fit board and its passive agressive insinuations

It is passive-aggressive, isn’t it? And to think it questioned my judgement, after asking me the question in the first place!

This is a side to the Wii Fit that I don’t really see. I guess it’s trying to be encouraging in the way of fitness instructors, which is really why we’re all avoiding the gym in the first place isn’t it?

Well, it’s part of the reason I avoid gyms. I also avoid them because it seems as though everyone there is already thin.

But I never have liked the aggressive, competitive side to sports and training.

Except as a football fan, of course.
