Humiliation, Round Four: The Voting

Posted 6 September 2008 in by Catriona

Apologies for the lateness of this posting. But now I’ve helped slay the dragon, this seems like the logical next step.

The nominations for this round are as follows:

I have never read Frank Herbert’s Dune.
John has never read John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath.
Tim has never read Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women.
Wendy has never read William Thackeray’s Vanity Fair.
Leigh has never read Kenneth Graham’s The Wind in the Willows.
Nick has never read Jasper Fforde’s The Eyre Affair.
Matt has never read Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels.

Voting, as always in the comments thread below.

I have read Little Women, Vanity Fair, The Eyre Affair, and Gulliver’s Travels.

I can’t honestly say I’ve read The Wind in the Willows. I have a feeling I did many years ago, but I only have vague memories of it, and they might be gleaned from other sources, so I’m not adding it to my list.

Same for me on The Wind in the Willows and Gulliver’s Travels…feel I might have read them but not sure..I guess that doesn’t count

I have read Dune, The Wind in the Willows, and The Eyre Affair.

I seem to remember reading a children’s simplified version of the Lilliput story, but that sure as hell doesn’t count, no matter how many dragons I’ve helped to kill!

I’m pretty sure (99.9%)that I have read Gullivers Travels and I have definitely read Little Women.

I read Dune, Children of Dune and Dune Messiah when I was in early high school. Didn’t understand a word (well I should say I understood enough to appreciate them as stories but didn’t ‘get’ a lot of what was going on). I have never read any of those other books (how humiliating!)
