Blogging in the Living Room

Posted 8 March 2008 in by Catriona

Just, as Nick suggests, as some beneficent deity intended.

The new MacBook is here—and it’s lovely. The keyboard is a vast improvement on the last one, and this one hasn’t had a chance to turn a nasty, grubby colour yet.

I would love a black one at some point, but for now the extra cost isn’t worth it yet for an aesthetic improvement.

But the most important thing? Now I can play Packrat in the living room.

I know it’s sacrilege but I’ve been digging my Dell Latitude D630 that work has bought for me to use. Maybe it’s the 120GB hard disk or the 2GB of RAM or the wide screen. Maybe it’s because I have a primordial desire to right click on everything and live in the task bar. Come to think of it, it’s probably just that the iBook (G4, 12”, 40GB drive, 512MB RAM) is quite old now and it was never really a beast to start with. Also I’m still running 10.3.9 on it.

Anyway, Happy New Mac, may it live long and prosperously.

Matt, you Lando!

Well, OK, if work bought it for you. But still. You need to experience the Joy of Leopard.
